How to measure fabric for eyelet curtains?

Eyelet curtains hang directly from a curtain pole using metal rings or grommets, added into the header of your made-to-measure curtains. They fall to create soft, even folds that effortlessly showcase our vibrant prints.

Measure the width of your eyelet curtains

With a curtain pole:
If you already have a curtain pole in place, measure the width of the pole between the end caps or decorative finials. This is the width measurement to use when making your curtains.

Without a curtain pole:
If you’re yet to get a curtain pole, then you can measure the width of your window reveal, the inner side surface of your wall opening that connects the indoor wall to the window frame. Then decide how far you’d like your curtains to extend beyond each side.

Measuring the length (drop) of your eyelet curtains
The drop of your curtains will depend on how you want your curtains to hang.

Sill length:
Measure from the top of the curtain pole to approximately 1cm above the window sill. Add 4cm to allow for the fabric that sits above the eyelet.

Below the sill:
Measure from the top of the curtain pole to your preferred finished length, usually around 15–20cm below the sill. If there's a radiator underneath, finish approximately 3cm above it. Add 4cm for the eyelet heading.

Floor length:
Measure from the top of the curtain pole to approximately 1.5cm above the floor to prevent the fabric from dragging. Love the relaxed look? Simply add your preferred length if you'd like the curtains to puddle on the floor.

How to measure fabric for pencil pleat & pinch pleat curtains?

Pencil pleat and pinch pleat curtains hang directly from a curtain track or curtain pole. Pleated curtains feature sewn-in folds at the top header to create a more structured and uniform look, putting more of an elegant touch on our bold printed fabric designs.

Measure the width of your pencil pleat or pinch pleat curtains

With a track:
Measure the full width of your curtain track, or measure between the end caps or decorative finials if you're using a curtain pole.

Without a track or pole:
If you’re yet to get a curtain pole, then you can measure the width of your window reveal, the inner side surface of your wall opening that connects the indoor wall to the window frame.

Decide how far you’d like your curtains to extend beyond each side, we recommend 15-20cm on either side for a fuller look.

Measuring the length (drop) of your pencil pleat or pinch pleat curtains

With a track:
Measure from the top of the track down to your desired finished length.

With a curtain pole:
Measure from the underside of the curtain rings to your chosen finished length.

Sill length:
Measure from the top of the curtain pole to approximately 1cm above the window sill.

Below the sill:
Measure from the top of the curtain pole to your preferred finished length, usually around 15–20cm below the sill. If there's a radiator underneath, finish approximately 3cm above it.

Floor length:
Measure from the top of the curtain pole to approximately 1.5cm above the floor to prevent the fabric from dragging. Simply add your preferred length if you'd like the curtains to puddle on the floor for a more relaxed look.

How to measure fabric for Roman blinds?

Roman blinds are smooth fabric blinds that fold into neat horizontal pleats when raised and hang flat when lowered. A functional and compact alternative to curtains, they’re the perfect way to showcase a unique print. Before measuring, decide whether you'd like your Roman blind to sit inside the window reveal or outside it.

Measure the width of your Roman blinds

Outside the window reveal:
Measure the width of the window reveal, then add the amount you'd like the blind to overlap on each side.

To minimise light leakage we recommend that the blind overlaps the window reveal by at least 7cm above the window and 5cm at each side.

Inside the window reveal:
Measure the width of the window reveal at the top, middle and bottom and use the smallest measurement.

Measure the length (drop) of your Roman blinds

Outside the window reveal:
Measure from where you'd like the blind to start above the window down to your preferred finished length.

Inside the window reveal:
Measure the height of the window reveal in the left, centre and right and use the smallest measurement.
